A requiem for the little pieces....

well, i finally got a call that i have a package waiting in the office. Yay! i have been waiting for WEEKS since ryan told me he mailed it from italia.

THE BOX, the one dorth and i packed so carefully because it was filled with our italian memories, finally came. i rushed down with much anticipation and found out it has been there for weeks!! WEEKS! yikes, no one told me. so not only was i excited, i was kind of annoyed that NO ONE TOLD ME!!

i rushed to dorth's house and opened it up. apparently we had not packed it as well as we thought. one thing after another was broken...sniff..

the pottery i found in castelinni was smashed....into little pieces...how could that be? the bowl was salvageable with some crazy glue but my pretty tray was a jigsaw puzzle....sniff, sniff.

what really amazed me was the randomness of the broken pieces. one thing was fine and right next to it was a mashed mound of broken remains. ah well, there were still lots of memories that survived. and we'll always have siena...right dorth??

so i sit here looking at the pile o stuff that didn't make it and have a moment of silence for the memories that were made and the detritus that remains....

love those memories. it's one thing the postal service can't take away, sniff....
